Just a few things to ponder today....

Because my computer was so amazingly slow last night, (must have been frozen from the falling temperatures), I was able to catch up on my new batch of magazines. While reading through them I learned a few things about myself.

The economy has me thinking more and more about what is necessary and what is prudent. Personally, the pressure of the economy is frustrating to say the least and has caused me to have this very abnormal thought process. I like living in "Janet Land" where everything will be just fine and the prettier you make it look the better everything will be.

Yes, we are very blessed to be well cared for by The Accountant, who supports my efforts and crazy thought processes. The only thing changed is that we are just modifying life and cutting back .... just in case.

The first mag I read last night was Better Homes and Gardens. I pulled out quite a few pages and was genuinely happy with the content, it inspired me to cook a little more and gave me some ideas that will help me figure a way to complete more decorating projects. So, it left me with a good feeling in general.

Next was House Beautiful and it too left me feeling pretty good. There was an awesome pictorial on Etsy that highlighted just a few of the outstanding products you can find from so many amazing artists and crafters. Cu dos!!!! I think it is a great way to show people there are other options to high end and over priced home accents.

Another page made me so happy, it was the posting on the collecting of Tea Cups...a favorite of mine if you couldn't tell.

Finally I read Elle Decor and I was left feeling like it was too over the top and extravagant for a nation that is in the midst of financial turmoil.

Yes, design is always happening and we need to keep up with it, but I felt guilty looking at such high end products and over the top design. I just kept thinking there are better things to do with your money. Although you can't fault those that still have it to spend ... it keeps the economy moving.

I guess it brought me to the conclusion....I am a Country Living Girl at heart with a hint of influence from Traditional Home. Told you it was an evolution!

great pics and a lovely post! so glad you visited me and now I you! funny to think about what kind of a magazine girl i might be... guess i'm not really sure... but i do know i often feel the same when i look at the "high end" kind of stuff. just makes me almost sick to my stomach to think there are people spending that kind of money of the "fluff" of life.

My new favorite quote is "We may be recessed, but we are definitely not depressed". As we all adjust and budget better, there is still a lot of little things we can do for ourselves and each other that don't involve a lot of $...somehow I couldn't find any at Elle Decor! :)

I too subscribe to Elle Decor. Truthfully I like to be inspired and then challenge myself to recreate the look via Target and TJMaxx. :)
